Teacher Registration
and Mentoring

What makes our teacher registration support service so good?  The service has been designed by ECE professionals to support ECE teachers and centres throughout the ongoing journey of being a great teacher and meeting the Teacher Council requirements for support!

The Talk TR Mentoring Service:

  • Is tailored to individual needs and agreed with a Talk Tōmua | Provisional teacher, mentor teacher and professional leader
  • Includes regular observations of teaching practice and opportunities for the teacher to observe their colleagues, including the mentor teacher
  • Has time allocated for ‘learning conversations' where the mentor provides feedback and facilitates critical reflection by the teacher on their practice via the Astute Teacher Registration support software
  • Is part of wider professional development and learning available to all staff, including the opportunity to understand the setting's professional growth cycle and see the connections of this to the induction and mentoring program
  • Includes access to external networks and professional development opportunities
  • Provides opportunities to use the Standards | Ngā Paerewa in evidence-based conversations that demonstrate the teacher’s progress towards independently meeting these
  • Is resourced appropriately and meets the contractual obligations of teachers and centres who use this service
  • Has records on Astute documenting professional discussions, observations and feedback, critical reflections on information and data by the teacher and any other professional development.

We support teachers with maintaining and renewing their Teacher Registration while relief teaching at centres.  We work with the Teachers Council to make sure your Teacher Registration journey is current and meets all Teachers Council requirements.
